Need Prayer For Unexpected Surgery

Five days ago we learned that my mom has a walnut sized tumor on her ovary. Mom and Dad had an appointment with a Christian gynecologist this morning. We don’t know if the tumor is malignant, but since mom has had two aunts die of ovarian cancer, and it is sometimes hereditary, we want to take care of this right away.

However, there are several pieces of good news:

-They scheduled surgery for this Thursday. Apparently the receptionist worked for about 45 minutes to get the appointment scheduled so soon–coordinating two doctors, the hospital, and the anesthesiologist. My mom was so happy that she was able to schedule it so soon, she gave the receptionist a big hug. [smile] She explained how it was an answer to prayer.

-Dad said that Mom was witnessing to everyone in the waiting room. Mom and Dad both have been quite the evangelists with all the people they are encountering. In fact, most of supper tonight was spent listening to their stories. Praise the Lord for that!

The surgery will be this Thursday (March 1st) at 7:30 am. Thank you for praying.

Dad’s verse of the day today: “Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me” (Psalm 27:7).

  1. I’m praying for you all, may God encourage all who you witness too. I hope the surgery goes well.
Thanks for your ministry, I’m so encouraged by your blog and Bright Lights.
    In Christ,
    Sarah B.

  2. Oh my! Will be praying! That sounds scary! May God give you all indescribable peace and guide the doctors in a mighty way and use this for His glory. God bless! Rebecca from Missouri

  3. Grace,
We are praying! Thank you so much for letting us know so we can pray specifically. May God hold your mom in the palm of His hand and give her (and all of you) peace and strength. We also pray for the doctors to have God’s wisdom and skill.
    We love you,
    Lisa and Tony

  4. Grace-
oh wow. I will be praying for your Momma, for your Dad to be strong to help her, and for all three of you children as you take care of your home and business for awhile. Praise the Lord that they could get her appointment so soon! And how beautiful that your Momma is using this as a ministry for sharing Christ.

    Keep us updated!

  5. I will be and am praying for your family, and for the medical staff. God will certainly carry you through this time, working for good all the while. May the Lord bless you, Mally family! Love yous!

  6. I am so sorry to hear this. Praying fervently for your sweet mom and your whole family. May the peace that passes all understanding flood your hearts!!

  7. We are praying here in the rhino house for you all! God is absolutely sovereign, He’s absolutely good, and He is still ( forever) on the throne. I am praying that your testimonies, though tested by tribulation, will be strengthened, and that everyone your family comes in contact with during this time won’t see the mally family but will see Christ, and His love.
    Hugs to everyone!
Emilie (and the rest of the clan)

  8. My family & I will keep your mother in our prayers this week. We have a Bright Lights meeting tonight so I will also encourage my group to be praying for you!

  9. Oh, Grace! We will most definitely be praying. This is quite the attack against your family and your work, but praise God that we have the victory! Stand strong!

  10. Oh no, Grace…I’m so sorry to hear that! Let Mrs. Mally know we’ll be praying for her over here! Praying that you will be able to see the Lord’s will in all this.

  11. Grace,
My family and I are praying for your family and for your mom. May God draw you each of you ever closer to Him during this time. May your family stand strong for the Lord and stand in His strength alone.
    In Christ,
    Haley S.

  12. Will be praying for all of you. Its neat to hear that in the midst of your uncertainty of how things are going to work out, your parents were sharing the gospel! Praying for you all…

    Blessings, ~Krista

  13. I am SO GLAD they got her in for surgery so quickly. Praise God that the surgery went well. Know that the S family is praying. Love to you all.

  14. Somehow I’d missed this news. I pray that things went well. Any news yet on the results?
