Homeschool Day at the Capitol

Last week Stephen and I drove to Des Moines to help out with the “Homeschool Day” at our state capitol.

The event was planned for homeschoolers to build better relationships with their representatives, to make their presence known to the legislators, and to lobby on a couple of bills that are up in the state house right now on the issue of homeschooling.

Stephen photographed the event and I provided special music and helped greet and direct people, etc. The whole day went very well and it was fun being a part of it.

A rally was held in the afternoon with a HSLDA speaker, a Generation Joshua representative, a local homeschool-dad attorney, and a few others.

  1. Hooray, I’m sure you all did a GREAT job! We had a similar event in Lansing, MI, some time ago, and it was really neat to meet so many of our good legislators, including several homeschool fathers. It is important to build contacts with our elected representatives in the Capitol, and to write them on issues of importance to us. It’s amazing how few contacts they get on most of the bills that go through the legislature on a daily basis, something like 20 contacts on the average bill. Thanks for what you all are doing, and God bless America!

  2. Wow, that looks like a really neat event. This really make me want to get more involved in my states political/homeschooling gatherings though. Thanks for the pictures!

It seems like a really neat opportunity. Thanks for all you guys do for all 3 God ordained institutions!! I wish more people wouldn’t forget that last one called the Government. God Bless You All!!!

  5. The building the 3rd picture was taken in is the Wallace building I believe. That is where the TeenPact Iowa state class was!
