Here are the two vans in which we pretty much just spent the last couple of days. It is a long way from Iowa to Collegeville, Pennsylvania!

The van I was in left a day early and took a southern route so we could go to the Creation Museum. Part way into the trip, my dad remembered that we were supposed to pick up boxes of Bright Lights sets from our printer in Indiana to take to the conferences. So the girls found all kinds of interesting uses for the unexpected boxes…slept against them, named them, used the tops of them for storing food and clothes…

And even for transporting a turtle… 🙂 which we found in the middle of the road at the Creation Museum exit.

We had to let the turtle go, though, when we went into the Creation Museum, so it wouldn’t be in the hot van all day.

This is one of our family’s favorite quotes in the Creation Museum. 🙂

The museum is continuing to expand the petting zoo, and *personality* is something the animals don’t seem to lack! The animal on the left is an alpaca-llama cross. (Sort of like the “Zonkey” they own which is a zebra/donkey cross) Nice hair cut, huh? *smile*

I love Gomer’s expressions. Who’s going to ride me next?

Tada! (Go dad!)

Since half the group took a southern route to go to the Museum, we planned to meet up with the other van (and trailer) while driving through Pennsylvania on Sunday. We just weren’t expecting that the location of our rendezvous point would be on the side of the road with a flat trailer tire. But thanks to God’s provision, all was taken care of.

It added about 3 hours to the trip, but if a flat tire is the only thing that went wrong, I’d say we did pretty well. 🙂 We arrived at the church at about 10pm.

And even after that LONG day in the van, Mary is still smiling!

And thank you to Melodie for taking most of the pictures in this post.

  1. wow! glad the trip went well! and thanks for putting that picture of Mary in- her never fading smile has been such a blessing to me!

  2. Wow, I’m so glad you guys were able to get to the church without any further mishaps–so sorry you had tire trouble though. You are all amazing and I am so, so thankful to our gracious Heavenly Father for sending you all here this year. Looking forward to the RP conference!!!

  3. Hello, first of all, I’d really like to say how much I respect your ministry and I actually hope to help lead a Bright Lights group in our area soon, I also really enjoy your blog, it reminds me to pray for you:) But, I’m afraid that this blog post rather disturbed me because you (it seemed) transported a box turtle to a different location. Box turtles stop at nothing to return to their ‘home’. Depending on how far you transported this turtle depends on his survival, he has to cross a whole lot of roads to get back and unless a miracle happens I’m afraid that little turtle will not make it back. I realize that it’s a might late to really do anything about it now but you can at least learn from it and not do it again. It is always best to leave wild creatures where you find them and if the animal is in danger where it is then move it just until it is safe (such as on roads). Thanks so much for this blog and your ministry, I really, really, hope to help/go to one of your conferences in the future!

  6. Hi Sarah,
Thanks for your comment and concern for the turtle! I just edited / clarified the post. We did find it on the middle of the road and stopped to move it. We took it in the van with us for less than a mile and then let it go again, so hopefully the little guy will be okay. He was so cute, I am beginning to develop a new attration for turtles now, haha. 🙂
That would be great if we saw you at a conference sometime or if you start a Bright Lights group!
    Thanks also for your prayers!
    God bless!
